Techniques: Pieced
and free-motion quilted by machine, with embellishments of lace,
fringe, "eyes" and
buttons. The face and lace collar were fused and then machine embroidered. The
fringe and buttons were stitched by machine, and the eyes were glued
on. The black-and-white checks were hand-painted using fabric/textile
paint.
Materials: Fabrics
used were Batiks, hand-dyed fabric by Lunn Fabrics, and commercial cottons. Rayon,
cotton and monofilament/nylon threads were used for the free-motion machine
quilting and machine embroidery. Embellishments of lace, buttons,
fringe, and craft eyes. Polyester batting was used. Fabric/textile
paint was also used.
