Techniques:  Piecing, free motion quilting, and free motion embroidery were done by machine.  The whole background was pieced by  machine, layered with the batting and backing, and then quilted.  The body of each parrot was created with individual feathers cut out from more than 50 different fabrics and then fused to a muslin background.  The eyes were glued on.  Initial free-motion embroidery with more than 30 different colors of threads was completed, and then each parrot was cut-away from the muslin background and lightly glued to the quilted background.  Additional free motion embroidery was done to each parrot to adhere and blend it into the background.  Leaves were cut individually from the batik border fabric, raw-edge fused to the background, and then completed with free-motion embroidery.
