Techniques:
Piecing
and free-motion quilting were done by machine. Colonial knots
were embroidered to create the stamen for each of the flowers. The
Kanji characters for "Comfort", "Joy", "Peace", and "Hope" were first
rubber stamped onto the red silk fabric and then hand painted with
gold fabric paint.
Materials:
Raw
silk, commercial cotton fabrics, and holographic cotton fabrics, as
well as threads of cotton, rayon and mono-filament nylon were used. Embroidery
cotton floss was used for the colonial knots. The batting is polyester
batting. Gold fabric paint was used for the Kanji characters.
