Artist Comment/Statement:  This fun piece was the result of an art quilt group "brown bag" challenge.  In a brown bag, we were provided the fish fabric, the beads, the string, and the directions that we had to create something with everything in the bag.  Since my husband loves to fish, the fish fabric inspired me to create a bass fish, which I drew from a photograph in one of his fishing books.  From the fishing book, I also learned that bass don't school together.

Techniques:  Pieced and quilted by machine. I utilized Hari Walner's trapunto technique contained in her book "Trapunto by Machine".  The beads were applied by hand and the string was glued and couched.

Materials:  Fabrics used were commercial cotton fabrics and polyester batting.  Rayon, metallic, cotton and monofilament/nylon threads were used for the piecing and quilting.  String and glass beads  were used as embellishments.
