Artist Comment/Statement:  Whenever I drive my car into town along Highway 378, I pass a very large oak tree standing out alone in a field.  I often wonder if this very old tree could talk - what stories would it tell?  I imagine that the tree is like an elephant, it has a long memory.  If you look carefully there is an elephant shape in the tree.

Techniques:  Pieced, appliqued, quilted, and embellished by machine.  The tree was created with heavy free-motion machine stitching using nine different colors of threads and multiple types of thread.

Materials:
Rayon, metallic, cotton and monofilament/nylon threads were used for the machine quilting and machine embroidery. Fabrics used were Batiks, commercial cottons, and the background is hand-painted fabric by Skydyesİ.  Polyester batting was also used.
